Hire a Band: Unless you’re lucky enough to know a square dance band offhand you may have to take to the web to find someone appropriate. You’ll want a dance caller as well as a three-piece instrumental and don’t forget to ask what they’ll bring and what they need.
Hay: Yes, hay. No square dance is complete without it! You can actually find the cheapest hay at a local tack and feed store but you’ll want a van or an SUV (lined with plastic) to transport it to the venue so plan ahead.
Party Favors: You’ll want to send your guests home with something to remember the night byhow about some plaid hankerchiefs? If that’s not your style try candles shaped like cowboy hates or miniature bootsnow you’re talking!
