International Association Of Square Dance Callers

Topeka, Kansas, while not one of the many U.S. states to lay claim on the square dance as their state dance, does boast the official headquarters of Callerlab, otherwise known as the International Square Dance Caller Association, the largest square dance association in the United States, boasting members from as far away as Germany and Saudi Arabia. Western Square Dancing, An Old Dance With Modern Ways

Square Dancing has evolved significantly in the last deacde. While it is still the national dance, no longer is it held just in barns with farmers in overalls calling out the steps. Haystacks have been replaced by air conditioning, and fiddles and banjos have been replaced with top 40 hits and classic rock.
